Stairs, Ramps, Toilets, Signage and Passenger Lift Compliance Checks
PAA® can undertake detailed reviews of the design and documentation relating to key accessible elements, including stairs and stairway systems, ramps and gradients, sanitary facilities, tactile and wayfinding signage, and passenger lifts.
Our assessments examine the proposed layouts, dimensions, clearances, materials, hardware and detailing to verify compliance with the NCC (BCA), the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), and the relevant Australian Standard requirements, including — but not limited to — AS 2890.6, AS 1428.1 and AS 1428.4.1.
By conducting these reviews at key design milestones — such as concept, design development, tender, or construction documentation — we can identify potential non-compliances or risks while they are still easy and cost-effective to rectify. This proactive approach supports more efficient approvals, reduces the likelihood of redesign or rework downstream, and provides greater certainty for project teams, certifiers, and clients.
Ultimately, PAA® independent technical assessments promote safer, more inclusive and equitable environments for all users — not just compliance for compliance’s sake — but accessible, people-centred design outcomes from briefing through to handover.
